Concern on the use of water in agriculture actually triggered the development of technologies for the improvement of its development, especially with regard to irrigation. At the same time a technique has been developed to employ the same irrigation equipment for fertilization. A new technique, called fertirrigation, was born. Since the above-mentioned technique requires care during installment and during performance on farms, current analysis focuses on some of its characteristics. High uniformity irrigation systems are also those that provide the best distribution of fertilizers with special reference on drip irrigation or micro-aspersion. Norm 10 of 28/10/2004 establishes the fertilizers´ characteristics, the choice of the product with the highest efficiency and which causes the least damage to the irrigation system and to the soil. The factors purity, compatibility, acidification, salinity and solubility should be taken into account. Fertirrigation is a technique for the increase of production since it provides nutrients, with extreme control, during the entire culture cycle. It may cause serious problems if it is not used in the proper way, for example, with excess.

Objective: This study is to determine the curative effect of β-elemene emulsion on chemotherapy in the treatment of refractory/relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML).\nMethods: In the β-elemene emulsion plus HAA chemotherapy (harringtonine, aclacinomycin, Ara-c group) group, 120 cases received β-elemene emulsion (400 mg) plus the HAA treatment. A 14-day treatment was a course of treatment, followed by an 8-14 day pause, and then the next course of treatment. The HAA treatment included Ara-C, 100 mg/m2, once every 12 h from day 1 to day 7; aclacinomycin, 20 mg/m2, from day 1 to day 7; and homoharringtonine, 4 mg/m2, from day 1 to day 7. The patients in the control HAA group received HAA treatment only. For both groups, effective antibiotics were given to patients when it was necessary. \nResults: The total effective rate in the β-elemene emulsion plus HAA group was 80.8%. But the total effective rate in the HAA only group was 52.9%. These results suggest that the β-elemene emulsion plus HAA treatment has a much better curative effect in comparison with the HAA only treatment (P < 0.05). Furthermore, β-elemene emulsion has slightly adverse response, without causing blood and bone marrow depression.\nConclusion: β-elemene emulsion has a curative effect in treatment of refractory/relapsed AML in combination with harringtonine, aclacinomycin, and Ara-c.

PERMACULTURE AS A MOTIVATION FOR SELF-SUFFICIENCY BY YOUNG PEOPLE Large youth unemployment both in Slovenia and in Europe demand to search new opportunities especially for young people. Permaculture as a complex approach connects environmental, social and economic aspects. Due to the innovative approaches and natural appearance is interested in both the young and the elderly. The four-year study, we monitored the attitudes of young people (students) to permaculture on the learning polygon for self-sufficiency in the municipality Polj?ane. We found that interest in permaculture is growing and there is a growing need to deploy permaculture in practice. Therefore, permaculture means a new opportunity to work for the younger generation who will have to deal with saving natural resources and ensure a higher degree of self-sufficiency.

Blood shortage may occur every year in major cities in China, which may lead to delayed surgeries and sometimes risks of death. In this study the motivation of blood donors in the region of Xi’an was investigated. The study showed motivation difference among different donor populations. As suggested by our results, the male donors are more likely to donate out of altruistic reasons than the female donors. The older donors are more likely to donate for their own benefits than the younger donors. The donors with lower levels of education are more likely to do this for their own benefits than the better educated donors. The over or under weight donors are also more likely to be out of egoistic reasons than those with normal body weights.

The study was carried out in mature cone production and growth characters (tree height, diameter at breast height, crown diameter and age) of four natural Taurus cedar (Cedrus libani A. Rich.) populations sampled altitudinal from Isparta region at southern part of Turkey. Fertility (number of cone) and effective number of parent were investigated to contribute breeding and silvicultural practices of the species. Cone production was also related to growth characters and altitude. \nThere were large differences among populations (p≤0.05) and within population for cone production. Fertility variation was 1.74 in polled populations, while it ranged from 1.29 to 2.04 in the populations. The effective number of parents estimated based on the fertility were 68.9 (57.4 % of census number) in the polled populations. Tree height and altitude had positive and significant (p≤0.05) effect on cone production in the polled populations, while the relations changed for the populations and characters.

Biological studies were conducted under laboratory conditions (20, 25 and 30 C˚ ± 1.65 ± 5 % RH) for both sexes of greater date moth. Very dry fruits were the suitable media for rearing the moth larvae. The mean numbers of eggs laid by fertile female was 2.2, 274.9 and 287.4 eggs/female, respectively. It was significantly lower at 20 C˚. The mean numbers of eggs laid by unfertile female was 0, 152 and 158.5 eggs, respectively. It was significantly lower at 20 C˚. Mean duration for egg development (and hatching percent) were 7.25 (5.33%), 5.8 (86.7 %) and 4.7 days (68.8%), respectively. The majority of eggs were laid at 5th and 6th day, 7th and 8th day and at 3rd and 4th day after female appearance, respectively. Mean duration for larvae-pupae development was 59, 36 and 31 days, respectively. Significant differences were detected between each of the three means. Mean duration for adult survival was 10.7, 7.25 and 4.4 days, respectively. None significant differences were detected between males, fertile and unfertile females at 20 C˚ and between males and females (fertile and unfertile females) at 25 C˚ and 30 C˚. Significant differences were detected between females and unfertile females at 25 C˚ and 30 C˚. In the three temperature degrees, the mean survival period of unfertile females was the highest, followed by that of males then of the fertile females.

The aim of the paper is to introduce an innovative simulation approach and its application allowing to deal with the trading processes of a virtual company. Agent-based modeling and simulation techniques are used to implement a multi-agent system to serve as a simulation framework. Our motivation is to use the framework as a basic part of a management system, operating as an integrated component of an actual system implemented within a company (e.g. ERP system) so as to investigate and to predict the chosen business metrics of a company. Such a system serves to enable the management of a company to support their decision-making processes. The paper firstly presents the contemporary importance of modeling and simulation and some of the existing theories on consumer behaviour and the types of factors which influence it. Secondly, the paper characterizes the multi-agent model of a virtual company, the agents participating in the trading negotiations, and the decision-making function. The decision-making function is used to calculate the product price during the negotiating process. Thirdly, the simulation results and their comparison with actual data, and the verification possibilities of the simulation model are described. Lastly, the simulation framework application will be introduced. It will be demonstrated that the proposed approach to customer behaviour in an agent-based simulation model could properly contribute to a better decision-making process.

After integration in European Union, regional policy represented a priority for Romania, both from the viewpoint of pursued objectives and of involved resources (human, financial, etc.). The essential elements of this process – regional policy and the Regional Operational Programme – are the pillars of balanced development of all regions, by valuing the regional and local development potential, by focusing on urban growth poles and improving the infrastructural and business environment conditions. The main effects of the regional policy are found especially in the creation of new jobs, development of infrastructure and urban area, business sector.\nThis paper presented the evolution of regional policy in Romania, after accession in European Union, the main difficulties, the influence factors during actual programming period and the solutions proposed for the problems which the regional policy implementation is confronted with.

In this study, the antiproliferative effects of vinorelbine which belongs vinca alkaloids family and is used as an anti-microtubule agents was evaluated on HeLa cell line originated from human cervix carcinoma. For this purpose cell kinetic parameters including cell viability analysis, mitotic index, labelling index and apoptotic index were used. The results showed that while there was a significant decrease in rates of viability and labelling index values, there was a significant increase in mitotic index values regarding the cell cycle effects depending on G2/M block for all experimental groups. Also there was a significant increase in apoptotic index values depending on interfering with the dynamics of microtubules. Differences between control and all experimental groups were statistically significant (p<0.01) for all applications.

This paper presents the details of investigation carried out on the flexural performance of self compacting concrete (SCC) ferrocement slabs. Total 60 slabs have been tested under flexural loading with and without addition of silica fume. The size of the slab is 700 mm (length) x 300 mm (width) x 25 mm and 30 mm (thickness). The parameters of study include thickness of slab, effect of silica fume and number of layers and arrangement of weld mesh. SCC characteristics have been studied for many trial mixes with and without silica fume to finalise the target mix. From the experiments, the load, deflection and moment carrying capacity corresponding to first crack and at ultimate stage have been obtained. Moment carrying capacity at ultimate stage has also been predicted by using mechanism approach various analytical models available in the literature and compared with the corresponding experimental value. It is observed that the predicted moment by using Model is in good agreement with the experimental value.

Background: Oxidized low-density lipoproteins (ox-LDL) are produced during oxidative stress by the process of lipid peroxidation and they have also been proposed to have complex roles in many immune-inflammatory mechanisms. It has been shown that experimental subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) results in oxidative stress in the brain of animals. The aim of this study was to investigate ox-LDL and malondialdehyde (MDA), produced in the brain tissues of rats with SAH. \nMethods: Experimental SAH was induced in Spraque-Dawley rats by transclival basilar artery puncture technique. Brain concentrations of MDA were measured in a control and three experimental groups following SAH procedure. The presence of ox-LDL in the brain tissue sections was evaluated using immune fluorescent staining method. \nResults: Ox-LDL was strongly accumulated in the brain tissue at the 2nd and 48th hours of the SAH. This accumulation was slightly persisted through 10th day. MDA levels were significantly increased at 2nd and 48th hours after SAH. Increases in tissue MDA levels were highest after 48 hours of procedure and decreased to control group levels at 10th day.\nConclusion: This is the first study in which the accumulation of ox-LDL molecules in the rat brain was shown by fluorescent immune staining method. Oxidized LDL accumulation in the brain tissue realized early period after experimental SAH.

The aim of this paper is to lay a foundation for providing a soft algebraic tool\nin considering many problems that contain uncertainties. In the paper, soft hyperlattices and fuzzy soft hyperlattices are studied. Firstly, the concept of soft hyperlattices is introduced and several interesting examples are given. Also, some properties of soft hyperlattices are investigated. Secondly, the fuzzy soft hyperlattice which is a generalization of the soft hyperlattice is proposed. After that, equivalent conditions of fuzzy soft hyperlattices are given by using level soft sets. Finally, under the fuzzy soft homomorphism of hyperlattices, the image and pre-image of fuzzy soft hyperlattices are studied.

To facilitate the intuitional analysis of the protein sequences, we introduce a novel 2D graphical representation based on the characteristic model of protein sequence, which may reflect the innate structure of the protein sequence. And then, we design two numerical characterizations of protein graphs as descriptors to analyze the nine DN5 protein sequences. Comparing with existing methods, our method is not only proved to be visible, intuitional, and simple, but also has no circuit or degeneracy, and even more important, it can keep excellent visual inspection for long protein sequence because the storage space required by our method is constant and has nothing to do with the length of protein sequence.

The syncretic phase consists of four operations: referral of significant field, primary delimitation of information, detection-looking information and an anticipative-draft constitution (feedforward). The segregation-synthetic phase also includes four operations: discrimination, identification, interpretation and confrontation (feedback). This note refers to the first record of Alosa fallax (Lacépède, 1803) in the Azores Archipelago (NE Atlantic, Portugal). Being an anadromous species, this occurrence is quite unexpected since there are no suitable breeding habitats for this species in these isolated, river less, volcanic islands. Although A. fallax is known to migrate offshore, it has never been reported in oceanic environments.\nWe discuss this occurrence and theorize on the possibility of it being found in Madeira, another Macaronesian Archipelago, albeit much older and closer to European coasts and thus more suitable to be crossed by A. fallax during this species’ migration routes in pelagic environments.\nWith this record, the number of Clupeid fishes for Azorean waters increases to two, the other being the well known and resident Sardina pilchardus.

The study was carried out in progeny trial established by ten populations of Anatolian black pine (Pinus nigra Arnold.) to estimate genetic variation, heritability, genetic gain and genetic and phenotypic correlations among characters based on ninth year results of tree height and branch characters in the trial. \nAverage of tree height was 112.7 cm in polled populations, while averages of branch characters were generally similar.\nResults of analysis of variance showed statistically significant differences (0.05>p) among populations for the characters. In business and industry it becomes very difficult for a manager to make concrete decisions regarding inventory, as the data available are not always reliable. Because uncertainty exists in demand, available resources, and the capacity constraints of an inventory planning system, considering these factors in a flexible form may be justifiable. Therefore, fuzzy logic has been applied to this uncertain data to address problems of inventory. In this effort, an inventory model has been contemplated in a fuzzy environment to prevent shortages. Triangular fuzzy numbers have been used to consider the ordering and holding costs. For defuzzification, the parametric-distance method has been used to compute the optimum order quantity.
