The physicochemical and texture properties, lipid oxidation and antioxidant capacity of peptides during Cantonese cured meat processing was studied in this paper. The moisture content and residual nitrite content decreased gradually, and pH values and salt content were stable. Acidity value was observed to increase during the processing, and peroxide value firstly decreased, and then increased, TBARS value was not distinct regularity. 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 1, 10-Phenanthroline monohydrate (OH) radical scavenging activity of P1 (>5 kDa peptides) were higher than P2 (<5 kDa peptides). The trend of DPPH and OH of P1were reached the maximum at 18 h. For P2, they were increased throughout drying periods. P1 of extracted from Cantonese cured meat drying processing at 18 h was the optimum antioxidant peptides. Glu and His were the major amino acid of both peptide fractions. In addition, Val, Phe, Gly were important constituent amino acids in both peptide fractions.

Aim: The aim of the present study was to investigate the clinical, histopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics of Hodgkin\'s lymphoma (HL) in the city of Sanliurfa in Turkey.\nMethods: Thirty two cases that had been diagnosed as HL and which fully clinical and histopathological information could be fully accessed at our hospital clinics between 2002 and 2013 were included in the present study. The clinical, histopathological and immunohistochemical findings were examined retrospectively. \nResults: The male/female ratio was 2.2. The average age of the subjects was 29.9±24.4. The distribution of the ages of these cases, in terms of decades, was 31.3% in the first decade, 9.4% in the second decade, 21.9% in the third decade, 6.3% in the fourth decade and 28.1% in the fifth or a subsequent decade. The most frequent localization site was cervical region (56.3%). The most frequent symptom was pain-free lymphadenopathy (81.3%). On a macroscopic level, 68.8% of them were found to have lymphatic nodes that were larger than normal. With respect to the histological sub-types, nearly every case was classical HL, 40.6% of the cases were identified as having the mixed cellular type, 40.6% had the nodular sclerosing type and 9.4% had the lymphocyte rich type. Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg cells were CD15-positive in 91.6% of the cases, CD30-positive in 100% and CD20-positive in 20%.\nConclusion: Our epidemiological datas are generally compatible with data from both underdeveloped and developing countries. The results of immunohistochemical staining that we have obtained in this study are in line with the literature data.

Purpose: Paragangliomas (PGL) are rare tumors originating from extraadrenal chromaffin cells. Approximately 15% of paragangliomas are malignant. The appropriate systemic treatment for metastatic disease is not yet established. Genetic studies of families led to shift from non specific towards targeted therapies. It is shown that in patients with succinate dehydrogenaze subunit B (SDHB) mutation, up to 90% of patients can develop metastatic diseases. Currently, there are available data on sunitinib treatment in one retrospective study and several case reports. There are 2 phase II clinical studies ongoing, in order to define the role of sunitinib in the treatment of PGL. \nMethods: we analyse the case of 37 years old patient with hereditary paraganglioma and liver metastases who has undergone chemotherapy and targeted treatment. This patient has a family history of paraganglioma and SDHB mutation. The results achieved with sunitinib treatment are promising with few manageable side effects.\nConclussion: sunitinib is an active drug in this rare malignancy and could be one of treatment option.

In spite of the importance of marketing capabilities (MC) and supply chain management (SCM) in supply chain performance (SCP), and the mediating role of SCM in the MC-SCP relationship, there have been few attempts to investigate MC in a supply chain context. Present study tries to explain these issues. Thus, this study examines the probable relation between MC, SCM, and SCP. The results indicate MC has a strong and positive effect on SCP and SCM. Interestingly, SCM was found to have the largest direct influence on SCP, followed by MC. Managers should realize that SCM is essential to meet customer requirements. Although influenced by SCM, MC is still a foundation for managing the supply chain and has a positive impact on SCP. Equally important, the fact that the contribution of SCM to firm performance is influenced by MC does not mean SCM is irrelevant in corporate strategy. Managerial and future research implications of these findings are discussed.

Abstract\n\nDuring the current financial crisis, the insurance enterprise received more attention. As a result, this paper displays forecasting methods based on filtering insurance time series data set using Wavelet Transform (WT) such as discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and maximum overlapping discrete wavelet transform (MODWT) and ARIMA model. The insurance income time series data will be taken from the Amman Stocks Exchange (ASE) for a certain period of time. First, according to the growing up in DWT and MODWT in recent years and they have a better advantage than the traditional Fourier methods. Therefore, we compare the forecasting technique based in DWT and MODWT in order to select the best Wavelet function in content of forecasting future behavior.

The physico-chemical characteristics, storagability and shelf life during storage of Spunta potato tubers (Solanum tuberosum L.) treated with calcium chloride (0.0, 5.0 and 10.0 gL-1) and/or salicylic acid (0.0, 600 and 800 mgL-1) postharvest dipping for 20 min were studied. All SA and/or CaCl2 postharvest treatments decreased the percentage of weight loss, sprouting and decaying during cold storage or after removal from cold storage and keeping at room temperature. Moreover, these treatments caused a decrease in the soluble solids and sugar accumulation during cold storage at 12±1°C and 85±5% relative humidity. Whereas, it increased tubers firmness, dry matter, acidity, ascorbic acid and starch during cold storage compared with the control set. Hence, it could be concluded that postharvest chemical treatment with CaCl2 and SA has the potential to control decaying incidence, prolong the storage and shelf life and preserve valuable attributes of postharvest potato, presumably because of its effect on inhibition of sprouting, decaying and senescence processes.

Objective: Our aim is to evaluate the efficacy of ECT in BIDP- and BIDP+ retrospectively, in this study.\nMethods: Clinical records of patients admitted to psychiatry inpatient unit and underwent ECT were scanned and 25 BIDP+ and 15 BIDP- patients’ records were included in the study. Clinical Global Impression (CGI) scale, Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (Ham-D) and Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) scores both baseline and on discharge as well as some clinical and socio demographic characteristics when present were tabulated from the records. CGI score under 2 on discharge was accepted as response to ECT treatment.\nResults: Of 25 BIDP+ patients 20 were manic, 3 were depressive and 2 were in mixed state. Of 15 BIDP-patients 7 were manic, 5 were depressive, and 3 were in mixed episodes. There were no significant difference in the duration of hospitalization, rating scale scores (HAM-D, YMRS, CGI) and the number of ECT sessions between two groups. 86.7% f BIDP- patients, 76.0% BIDP+ patients responded to the ECT and the difference between two groups were not statistically significant.\nConclusions: In our study, ECT appears to be an effective treatment both in BIDP+ and BIDP-.

This study aimed to reveal the effects of the “Science Camp for Young Inventors” project, which was supported by TÜBİTAK and in which non-classroom activities were created so that students could take place actively in different science and nature activities, on students’ science process skills and attitudes toward science. It was planned that the project would be a joint work of Bursa Science and Technology Center, Uludag University, and the Ministry of Education (MOE). Based on experiments, this study aimed to develop science process skills among primary school teachers, provide them with positive attitudes towards science, and enable them to internalize science process skills and turning such skills into daily life behaviors. The implementation of the project took 7 days. 50 students chosen randomly from among the 6th and 7th grade students with different socioeconomic levels in Bursa participated in the project. The age range of the students was 11 to 14. In the project, a total of 38 activities about biology, chemistry, physics and astronomy, which would develop creativity skills, scientific thinking skills, and positive attitudes towards science among students, were performed. The activities were conducted with the 6th and 7th grade students, whose total number was 50. The present study employed the “pretest and posttest” model for watching the improvement of science process skills and attitudes towards science among the students. SPSS package was used to analyze data. For comparisons, depended group t test was used. Consequently, it was seen that there was no significant increase in students’ scientific process skills scores and attitudes towards science scores at the end of the “Science Camp for Young Inventors” project. However, it is likely that the reason for non-emergence of any improvement is that students who were already interested in science were included in the science camp.

At the joint of the high strength concrete beams intersecting at right angles, the flexural stress produced at the bottom of the beam is in the same direction as the tangential bond splitting stress, developed due to slip of the concrete key over the reinforcing steel bar ribs. This results in tangential bond stress magnification leading to longitudinal splitting bond crack initiation according to theory of continuum mechanics and propagation according to the linear elastic fracture mechanics. The resulting bond failure is brittle and sudden then in normal strength concrete reducing the load carrying capacity and increasing the deflection. Experimentation was planned to study this reduction in bond strength due to flexural stress of the intersecting beam. Sets of completely instrumented beams and models of the intersecting beams were casted from high strength concrete. Each set consisted of two intersecting beams and one control beam. Steel and concrete strain gauges, linear variable displacement transducers and load cells provided the deformational behaviour of the beams and the models of the intersecting beams. The results of the experimentation confirmed that at the joint, bond strength of intersecting beams reduced as a result of bond stress magnification due to flexural stress of the intersecting beam. This reduction in bond strength of primary beam of the intersection model, with greater effective depth, was from 10 to 20% as compared to control beam. The mathematical expression is presented to determine the bond stress magnification. Moreover the results of this experimentation may have important implication on design provisions of the existing building codes. The provision of extra confinement through the stirrups may offer a solution to this problem

Abstract\nWe have investigated the effects of salt stress on the stability of plant growth, water relations, photosynthetic variables, lipid peroxidation and antioxidant system in salt-tolerant (PK-327) and salt-sensitive (PK-471) soybean genotypes. Ten-day-old salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive soybean plants were subjected to 0-150 mM NaCl for 15 days. While the growth of genotype PK-327 was not affected significantly upto 75 mM NaCl treatment, the growth of the PK-471 was reduced significantly beyond 25 mM NaCl treatments. Salt stress caused severe impairments in photosynthetic variables like photosynthetic rate, chlorophyll fluorescence and chlorophyll content, being more pronounced in salt-sensitive genotype than in salt-tolerant. The activities of antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase and glutathione reductase) was higher in PK-327 than in PK-471 at various levels of salt treatments. Chlorophyll fluorescence measurements revealed that non-photochemical quenching increased in PK-327 and decreased in PK-471 whereas the electron transport rate increased under salt stress in PK-471 and decreased in PK-327. It is concluded that tolerance capacity of PK-327 against salinity can be associated with the ability of this genotype in keeping an active photosynthetic system and strong antioxidant defence system.

This study explores how financial performance is affected by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) actions in the Taiwanese food industry. In addition, this study aims to understand the importance of these actions and determine how they perform in companies. A quantitative method was used with in-depth opinions from specialized experts. This exploratory study shows that companies in the Taiwanese food industry have focused on CSR indicators that are related to financial performance, such as maximizing energy efficiency, cost savings and taking part in charitable activities to support the community. However, companies in this industry face problems that must be addressed in the future through employee education and training and by taking care of employee benefits and paying more attention to pollution and waste control. Overall, by evaluating the importance and performance of certain criteria, this study indicates that CSR-related criteria play an important role in enhancing financial performance.

This paper considers four types of definite integrals of trigonometric functions and uses Maple for verification. The solutions of these integrals can be obtained using generalized Cauchy integral formula. On the other hand, some examples are used to demonstrate the calculations.

Treatment to surgical emergencies of inflammatory bowel disease, even not rare, has still been in controversy, especially for operation mode of index surgery. The damage control surgery concept originating from abdominal trauma care has shown broad prospects in non-traumatic areas. We report two typically critical patients of inflammatory bowel disease with severe myelosuppression where we try to implement damage control surgery. Loop ileostomy without enterectomy is executed at first patient of ulcerative colitis in order to minimize index surgery followed by unremitting exacerbation postoperatively while intestinal resection with jejunostomy and colostomy is carried out at second patient of Crohn’s disease with extensive hemorrhage who gets early physiologic recovery after surgery and easy access to definitive surgery. The opinion that besides minimizing the damnification of index operation, involved intestinal segments should be removed at first-time surgery to make source control and the first-line operation mode is enterectomy with enterostomy for surgical emergencies of inflammatory bowel disease is put forward here. All the issues warrant more randomized clinical trials.

EVA TEQJA \n\n\nThe speed of EU association depends on reforms carried out by each state to implement the political and economic criteria and adopt acquis communautaire . Despite the fact that in WB the EU rapprochement thus found its common starting point for all states in 2000, today the situation is much more different.\nNoun days, with Eastern enlargement finally taking place, the accession prospects for the Western Balkans must be seen in the light of a number of factors. These include the fear that their inclusion in the Union would bring conflicts to the heart of Europe and what has been termed “enlargement fatigue”, where the capability of the EU to accommodate more members is being questioned\nAnother example that shows clearly this approach is Turkey. Today Turkey is a very influential country with strong ties with all countries around its borders.\nThe revitalization of Turkish relations with the world should constitute a strong point for a European stronger foreign policy agenda: Turkey is showing a new activism in economic and foreign policy and this could bring benefits for EU.\nTurkey’s role in the region is an important point to strengthen the accession process for economic and financial reasons, but also for political goals.\nAccording to many studies after the 2004 enlargement, which increased EU membership from 15 to 25, the prevailing mood was ‘enlargement fatigue’. The widespread impression was that the EU had expanded too far too fast. It was agreed that the EU needed time to digest the admission of ten new members and to adapt its institutions, procedures and budget before it could undertake further expansion.\nThe region is still facing a lot of problems through a lot of tensions and Turkey has not yet reached the fulfillment of EU criteria’s. \nThese conditions cast doubts on the EU’s appetite for further expansion, particularly when its internal reforms were frozen. In this situation, remain the question about the future effectiveness of the EU’s accession conditionality, which had been highly successful in locking in democratic transformation and ensuring the adoption of the acquis communautaire in the new Member States. \nDespite of all these, the public opinions of the countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey, as this research shows remain yet hopefully and determined in the struggle to join EU.

Purpose: Primary objective of the study was to evaluate the independent contribution of the clinical assessment of balance on future fall risk to provide statistical data on the prediction of falls among older people in Saudi Arabia.\n Subjects and Methods: (N= 65) participated in the study. All subjects were asked to complete two experimental tasks ranging from answering questionnaires to performing specific balance and motor skills. Firstly, subjects were asked to complete a questionnaire, which consisted of fall history and health status. Secondly, the subjects were asked to complete the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). The study was conducted in the private residential home, Saudi Arabia. Permission was obtained from the ethical committee. patients were informed that they had the right to choose not to participate. \n Results: Indicated that Age was a significant predictor of Berg Balance Score in the Berg Balance Score was explained by its relationship to the Age Correlation is significant at the 0.01 level (2-tailed). The chances of falling and of being seriously injured in a fall increase with age due to both physiologic and pathologic changes. Furthermore, this study found that no single risk factor causes all falls, but the greater the number of risk factors to which an individual is exposed, the greater the probability of a fall and the more likely the results of the fall. \nConclusion: Prospective research is needed to validate these findings relative to fall prediction.

The influence of cadmium on growth index and mineral composition of cucumber (Cucumus sativus L.) was investigated. Seedlings were grown in hydroponics media containing a nutrient solution amended with Cd2+ at various concentrations (0.00,100, 150, 200, and 250 mg L-1 Cd2+). Phytotoxicity of metal, quantified as growth inhibition, was observed well before there was any other change in the elemental status. After 10 days of treatment, tissue-dependent decrease of fresh mass, dry mass, lengths of both shoot and root and area of the leaf segments were correlated with concentration especially 200 and 250 mg L-1 Cd2+in the growth medium. Cucumber was tolerant to 100 mg L-1 Cd2+, with a tolerance index (TI of 95%) but not to 250 mg L-1 (TI = 46%). Tissue concentrations of Mg, P, K Mn Cu and Zn decreased significantly in both shoots and roots at higher concentrations of Cd2+. The specific areas and densities of macro and micronutrients in the chloroplast membrane of leaf segments were significantly decreased with 250 mg L-1 Cd2+ treatment. A close relation between the plant organs and the elemental status in shoots and roots of cucumber plants was evident. Results presented here indicated that cucumber plants could increase their hyperaccumulating potential and could be used to supplement human diet.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India are facing a tough competition in the 21st century. In today’s ever increasing competitive business environment, Marketing Information System (MkIS) is vital for effective decision making for a manager in a SME, which in turn is responsible for its survival and growth. The current study is an attempt to highlight the extent of MkIS as a whole. A survey analysis has been undertaken for 140 SMEs viz. cutting tools, sports goods and bicycle components of manufacturing sector of Punjab in India to understand the impact of critical success and hindrance factors for MkIS in SMEs of Punjab. The ANOVA results highlight that there is not significant difference between the three categories of the firm viz. cutting tools, sports goods and bicycle components regarding the critical success factors of MkIS and it also justifies that all the success factors of MkIS are considered important by all the three categories of the firm.

Monitoring the presence of heavy metals in cookware intended for use by both humans and animals is of interest, because of their toxic effects.In this paper, a study has been conducted to determine the heavy metals released from 40 items of purchased from a local market in Riyadh. The heavy metal analyses of Mn, Fe, Cu, Cr, Zn, Ni, Al, Pb, and Al and were carried out using an Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES).The order of concentration of essential and toxic elements in all samples showed the following trend: Mn> Al > Pb = As > Mn > Fe > Zn > Cu = Ni = Cd > Cr. However, the results show that of all the metals released from the cookware examined in this study was lower than the standard limit suggested by the WHO.

The essential oil from aerial parts of Ziziphora clinopodioids plant was extracted by hydro distillation with efficiency of 1.86 %( w/w). The compounds were characterized by means of GC-MS using kovat\'s retention Indices. 32components of the essential oil which composed 98.18% of the total oil, was characterized. The major components were pulegone (61.67%), cis-caran-trans- 2-ol (12.66%), 1, 8- cineole (10.23%) and β- pinene (2.16%).

Utilizing aerial parts and even the root of medicinal plant, followed by making a brewed juce is common among the native people of the region where the plant of quince grows naturally as a self – growing plant. Therefore, toxic metal ions should be carefully monitored. A.triphylla plant that has mere medicinal application was analyzed. After the addition of Sapropel to the root of its leaf, essential sample was prepared through wet method , then the amount of metal ions was determined applying Flame atomic absorption technique. The results of measurements are as follows: Mn(161.70 dry mg/kg) and Fe(123.80 dry mg/kg) in plant another sample of leaves which possesses 75 µm particles , was analyzed as pills of dried product by means of XRF technique and the results are identifying and defining the quantities of Sr (237.20 dry mg/kg) and Na2O (0.57 dry mg/kg) in plant. The soil of growing place was carried out for percentage of humic substances. After the addition of Sapropel, the amount of humic substances for the soil of growing place was 0.26% in June and 0.29% in September.
