Morphodynamic monitoring of the sandy Saly coast, located on the Petite Côte of Senegal was done using both aerial images and ShorelineS model. This recent morphodynamic model, developed by IHE Delft and Deltares, uses a flexible, free coastline grid. Comparison of measured and simulated change rates for the 2003-2016 period, allowed the determination of the impacts of protective structures on the morphological evolution of the coastline. In order to propose a strategy for the coastline defense and to make recommendations for coastal protection, six protection scenarios using a combination or a single type of defense structure have been established and the evolution of the coastline projected until 2035.
