At present, due to mobile phones have become an indispensable part of daily life, the effects of electromagnetic (EM) fields induced by radio-frequency waves on many systems in the body are more and more being investigated. We aimed to investigate the effects of electromagnetic waves emitted from the cellular phones operating on subcutaneous tissues of the lateral thighs, which are one of the most common carriage sides for mobile phones. At the same time, we tried to draw attention to a wide range of possible risks by conducting a detailed literature review on the systemic effects of mobile phones. Fifty male volunteer participants were included in this prospective observational study. Cutaneous and subcutaneous tissue thickness, peak systolic velocity, and resistive index values on both thighs exposed to the electromagnetic wave and unexposed site of each participant were measured with Doppler ultrasonography. The differences between groups were assessed by using independent-sample t-test. The relationship between the exposure duration to EM field and US parameters was evaluated using Pearson correlation analysis. There were no significant differences between the exposed and unexposed sides for mean cutaneous and subcutaneous tissue thickness, peak systolic velocity and resistive index values (p = 0.846, p = 0.763, p = 0.363, p = 0.104; respectively). The correlations between exposure duration to electromagnetic field and ultrasonography parameters were not significant (r > -0.299 and p > 0.095). The echogenity did not differ in either group. The electromagnetic waves do not result in significant effects on cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues, which are adjacent to the mobile phone holder localization. Nevertheless, the negative effects of mobile phones on health should not be ignored, especially when used close to our bodies.

Since risk assessment has a significant impact on economic activity in the agricultural sector, accounting for risk factors in agricultural production is one of the main means of ensuring the effectiveness of results. By assessing risks, can reduce the impact of potential risks and predict their likelihood. Given the significant dependence of agricultural production on natural and climatic factors, it can be noted that there is a serious need to take appropriate measures to reduce the impact of risks or eliminate the likelihood of risk.

Tourism in Iceland has grown dramatically in recent years, peaking in 2017-2018 with over 2.3 million foreign visitors. Due to tourist organizations\' challenges, a new way of thinking about tourism development and streamlining management developed. The purpose of this research is to determine whether streamlined management in the tourism business can lead to improved results for tourism companies, particularly during crises like Covid-19. The research topic \"Can simplify management benefit tourism organizations in crises?\" is attempted to be answered. The study aims to improve the sector\'s development by using it to aid the industry\'s recovery from a crisis. A qualitative study (nine interviews) was done with tourism enterprises in Iceland to collect data, including those that use streamlined management and those that do not. The findings indicate that streamlined management can be beneficial in a crisis, and the sooner the organization begins to execute it, the better. The findings also show that for the implementation of streamlined management to be successful, a project manager who maps the company\'s operations, creates a plan, and has oversight of the implementation is required.

The genus Lonicera Linn. is an important horticultural plant that is mostly distributed in the Northern Hemisphere. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome sequence of Lonicera×heckrottii \'Gold Flame\' was assembled by next-generation sequencing. The gene sequence was 155,437 bp in length, showing a typical tetrad structure, which included a large single-copy region (LSC, 89,143 bp), a small single-copy region (SSC, 18,924 bp), and a pair of inverted repeat regions (IRs, 23,685 bp). A total of 125 genes were annotated, including 84 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 33 rRNA genes and 8 tRNA genes. A phylogenetic tree revealed that Lonicera×heckrottii \'Gold Flame\' is closely related to Lonicera tragophylla. This study provides important genetic information for the systematic evolution of Lonicera×heckrottii \'Gold Flame\'.

Pesticides are sprayed on apple orchards often, resulting in persistent residue in the final fruits, lowering fruit quality and increasing environmental risk. The development of a safe and effective solution that can prevent repetitive treatment, particularly during the fruiting phase, is critical. On three apple cultivars, we used several insecticides and a locally made product (LMP) to evaluate two-spotted spider mite (TSSM). Red-delicious, Golden-delicious, and Amri were the apple varieties chosen for the study. The apple trees were foliar treated fortnightly with Agrifol (Dicofol) 20 EC and Ethion 455 EC and local manufactured product once infested with local population of TSSM (LMP). The LMP was made in the lab using normal procedures with kerosene oil (60%), detergent (22%), brassica oil (10%), and deionized water (8%). The miticides and LMP were sprayed three times with a 21-day gap between each application, and each spray was thoroughly assessed. When compared to untreated areas, the novel formulation considerably reduced spider mite infection up to 15 days after each spray. In all three apple varieties, the population of TSSM was decreased by Ethion and Agrifol spray after 1, 10, and 15 days when compared to control. Because the LMP was a homegrown product, it had no negative consequences on the fruits or the environment, and it demonstrated possible ways for managing TSSM populations in apple orchards. However, further research is needed to allow for widespread use.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is a global public health crisis that has had a devastating effect on businesses and professions in almost all industries. Higher education has faced a serious disruption since February 2020. The effects of COVID-19 on research activities, teaching and learning, and mental health among students and teachers have been studied. Strict protocols have been initiated to alleviate the risk of infection in the coming semesters, and effective measures should be taken to meet the needs of higher education students.

Knowledge of the antimicrobial ability of plants essential oils and possibilities for their application in the food technology is of great importance in the control of microbial risks. The main goal of the study was to determinate the antimicrobial effect of various concentrations of basil and thyme essential oils (1, 2.5 and 5%) on growth of two strains of bacteria from the genus Salmonella: Salmonella enterica subsp. entericа subsp. еntericа serovar Enteritidis (D) ATCC 13076 - reference strain (S. enteritidis RS) and Salmonella enteritidis (group D) - epidemic strain (S. enteritidis ES). The bacteria were inoculated in pasta with eggs, in conditions of a simulated industrial process of production and in laboratory conditions, inoculated in flour and chicken eggs, used as raw materials for preparing the dough for making pasta with eggs (the samples were exposed at 37оC and 46оC). The effect of added basil and thyme essential oils on pasta and the simulated pasta production process showed a highly statistically significant effect at the level of p < 0.001 on the bacterial cell numbers of S. enteritidis RS and S. enteritidis ES in the pasta, while their interaction showed a statistically significant effect at the level of p < 0.01 on the bacterial cell counts of S. enteritidis RS and S. enteritidis ES in the pasta. Statistical models for the influence of the concentrations of basil and thyme essential oils on the number of bacterial cells of S. eteritidis RS and S. enteritidis ES in micellar solution (saline solution + various concentrations of essential oils of basil and thyme) in flour and eggs with micellar solution, as well as their interaction, revealed a statistically significant effect on the number of bacterial cells. Basil and thyme essential oils have a significant antimicrobial effect that can be used in the process of industrial production of pasta with eggs as an additional part of their production technology, which would guarantee greater safety of the final product to consumers, without increasing the drying temperature and without increasing energy costs.

Bacteriological assessments of contact lenses and frames were determined using standard bacteriological methods and the susceptibility of the bacterial isolates to Clear Care Cleaning Disinfecting Solution (CCCDS), Eye-Look Optical Lens Cleaner (ELOC) and Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) were assayed using disc diffusion technique. Bacterial isolates from the contact lenses and frames were: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp , Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Coagulase negative (CoN) Staphylococcus spp , Bacillus spp, Citrobacter freundii, Corynebacterium spp , Escherichia coli , Haemophilus influenzae, Micrococcus spp. and Aeromonas hydrophila . Only 33 (55.0 %) contact lenses and 41 (68.3 %) frames swabs showed positive growth and of the 41 (68.3 %) frames’ swabs with positive growth, 23 (38.3 %) showed growth of single bacterial isolate, 10 (16.7 %) showed growth of two bacterial isolates, while polybacterial growth was present in 7 (13.3 %). Only 25 (75.8 %) males’ and 16 (59.3 %) females’ frames swabs had bacteria growth, while contact lenses and frames from aged 21-30 yrs and 41-50 yrs had the highest and lowest numbers of bacteria colonization, respectively. The highest and lowest bacteria colonization of contact lenses and frames were from the farmers and civil servants, respectively. Bacillus spp BS-F13, BS-F57 and CoN-Staphylococcus spp CS-C1 were resistant to CCCDS, ELOC and H2O2. P. aeruginosa PA-C50 and A. hydrophila AH-C32 were resistant to both ELOC and H2O2. Only 2/18 (11.1%) and 5/18 (27.8%) of the Gram negative bacteria were resistant to ELOC and H2O2, respectively. The inhibitory zones obtained using CCCDS and ELOC ranged from 6.7±2.5mm to 12.8±0.5mm and 6.8±0.5mm to 11.3±0.8mm, respectively. Conclusively, this study has provided data on the bacterial isolates associated with contact lenses, frames and also showed the considerable variations in the antibacterial efficacy of contact lenses disinfection solutions

The era of information technology has witnessed considerable progress in academic libraries throughout the world. In present days, libraries are shifting their role from traditional set up to digital information service-oriented centers. Continuous advances in science and technology have made the use of computers necessary and even unavoidable in almost all fields of human life. Academic libraries, now a days are shifting their role from the custodian of traditional information resources to the provider of service-oriented digital information resources. Widespread use of computers, increased reliance on computer networks, rapid growth of Internet and explosion in the quality, and quantity of information compelled libraries to adopt new means and methods for the storage, retrieval and dissemination of information.

Global climate change affects not only temperature but also the hydrologic cycle and therefore the aridity index, with variations at the local level. A non-parametric analysis was carried out on time series data collected from temperature and precipitation records (1970 to 2011) from 38 CONAGUA (National Water Commission) weather stations located in the states of Sinaloa, Baja California Sur, Durango, Sonora and Chihuahua, Mexico. The magnitude of change trends of average, maximum, and minimum temperature and precipitation, potential evapotranspiration and the aridity index were calculated. The data were aggregated, and the Mann-Kendall statistic calculated using the MOCLIC 1.0 program, to determine whether there was continuity in the data from each station and to define the magnitude of the statistically significant trend under the threshold . The magnitude of the change trend was determined for significant trends using Sen’s method of slopes. Potential evapotranspiration and the aridity index were calculated by the Hargreaves and UNEP methods. The results show that the climate variables displayed positive and negative trends; mainly of temperature, with a range of -0.13 to 0.160 °C yr-1, which is above World averages. The values obtained for RMSE, bias, the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) and the coefficient of determination (R2) do not show significant differences between the control values and the calculated values. It was concluded that aggregating significant trends from this environment in northern Mexico can provide information on the direction of local climate change in the region and its important consequences and repercussions, as well as impacts on social and environmental systems.

Background: To investigate the beneficial effect of selenium (sodium selenite) supplementation on histological and biochemical parameters in experimental diabetes. Methods: Twenty four male albino (wistar) rats of 08 weeks of age were divided into three groups. The first group was served as the control, the second and third groups were intraperitoneally injected with alloxan (150 mg/kg of body weight) to induce diabetes, the third group was treated by gavages with sodium selenite (2mg/kg b.w.) for further three weeks. On day 22 animals were killed and blood glucose, insulin, haemoglobin glycated (HbA1c), G-6-PD, serum bilirubin, Aspartate amino transferase (AST), Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities, liver glutathione content (GSH), liver TBARS and liver glutathione peroxidise (GPx) activities were determined. Results: the administration of alloxan significantly increased blood glucose, HbA1c, bilirubin, AST, ALT, LDH, ALP, liver TBARS. In contrast, blood insulin, G-6-PD, liver glutathione content and liver GPx activities were significantly decreased. The histological study shows a destruction of pancreatic cells by necrosis and a decreased number of islets. Sodium selenite led to decreasing blood glucose, bilirubin, AST, ALT, LDH, ALP, liver TBARS and increasing blood insulin, G-6-PD, liver GSH content, liver GPx activities and protected pancreatic cells. Conclusion: To conclude, the present study shows that selenium exerted antioxidant and anti-hyperglycaemic effects and consequently may alleviate liver and pancreatic damage caused by alloxan-induced diabetes.

Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) have attracted much attention from researchers lately because MANETs are able to provide networks in areas with unavailable fixed network infrastructure. However, some mobile nodes may misbehave by dropping packets to conserve power usage because mobile ad-hoc networks nodes are usually battery operated. In this paper, a fuzzy logic-based routing protocol that considers the battery level of nodes, hop count, and trust among the nodes is proposed. The proposed routing protocol adaptively selects routes that use minimum hop count with the highest level of trust and a sufficient battery level to enhance the reliability of route selection while maintaining the percentage of successfully delivered packets. The result of the simulation shows that the proposed protocol can achieve a high ratio of successfully delivered packets, a lower average end-to-end delay, and a normalized routing load.

Characterization of farming systems in private plantations of teak (Tectona grandis L.F) is a better exploitation and management of these plantations. Indeed, this article is part of the performance evaluation of agroforestry systems teak and focuses primarily on the study of farming systems in relation to the teak plantations and evaluation the annual average increase in volume of teak wood based cropping systems. This study was conducted in the municipality of Tori-Bossito (Department Atlantic) south Benin. To achieve these objectives, a field survey was carried out, followed by tree measurements in 112 plantations. Therefore, to identify cropping systems and compare only the forests have been taken into account. Hierarchical clustering and principal component analysis were used to identify five groups of cropping systems. An analysis of variance between the average annual increases in timber volume obtained by group showed that there was no significant difference at 5% between these increases. Thus, the average annual increase in volume of wood teak plantations is statistically the same for all groups. But by observing means, installed after fallow plantations are those that induce a strong increase, and therefore, can be recommended to producers.

Background and Objective: Malaria is a life-threatening disease which is caused by malaria parasite. It is a major public health problem in India. The purpose of this study was to examine the possible changes in the cations (Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+) in cases of malaria.\nAim: The aim of this study was to determine the severity of cations and their association with the severity of malaria in a large cohort of known patients of malaria, which was caused by the Plasmodium.\nMaterial and Methods: The study was conducted on patients suffering from malaria and admitted in the department of Medicine, C. U. Shah Medical College and Hospital Surendranagar, Gujarat. Age of the patient ranged from 13-82 years. Two hundred eleven, age-and sex-matched healthy subjects were selected as control. The entire patients selected in the study were from middle-socio economic group. \nResults: The mean levels of plasma sodium, magnesium, calcium, zinc in the cases of malaria were significantly reduced (P<0.001) as compared to those in the control group. The levels of potassium and copper are significantly increased (P<0.001) in the malaria cases as compared to those in the control group. In the follow up study the same parameters were studied in patients after anti-malarial treatment day-3. The levels of cations were reversed in the plasma.\nConclusion: On the basis of the present study it is suggested that the antimalarial drug regimen must be supported by antioxidants and trace elements supplementation to avoid grave consequences of ROS (Reactive oxygen species) and cations imbalance and improve the status of deviated biochemical parameters towards normalcy.

The objective of this study was to determine the fattening performance and carcass traits of Anatolian Merino lambs under different housing systems. Average daily live weight gains (DLW Gain, g), total feed intakes (Total FI, kg) for each stall and the feed conversion ratios (FCR) of Anatolian Merino lambs in indoor and outdoor sheepfolds were found to be 262 and 270 g, 125.2 and 128.8 kg, 4.63 and 4.76 (P>0.05), respectively. The differences between the groups in warm carcass weight (33.07 and 34.90 kg, respectively), cold carcass weight (15.65 and 17.65 kg, respectively), leg weight (2.64 and 2.98 kg, respectively) (P<0.05), dressing percentage (47.32 and 49.61 %, respectively) and M. Longissimus dorsi area (12.79 and 16.45 cm, respectively) were significant (P<0.01). Also, the pH (P<0.05), hardness (P<0.05) and the colour values (P>0.05) of the eye muscle area and subcutaneous fat were also determined.

Two field experiments were undertaken in 2007 and 2008 to evaluate the effect of gradual imposition of water deficit stress on percentage ground cover (PGC), irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE), relative water content (RWC), grain yield (YG) and biomass (BM) of three Kabuli and desi chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) cultivars. Both experiments were arranged as split-plot, based on randomized complete block design in three replications. The irrigation treatments [well watered (I1: 70 mm evaporation from class A pan), gradual water deficit (I2 and I3: 70…90…110…130 and 70…100…130 mm evaporation from class A pan, respectively) and water deficit conditions (I4: 130 mm evaporation from class A pan)] were assigned to main plots and cultivars were allocated to sub plots. PGC, IWUE, BM and YG were decreased as water limitation increased. These reductions were only significant under water deficit (I4), compared with control (I1) for PGC, IWUE, BM and YG. IWUE was not significantly different among I1 (well watered), I2 and I3 (gradual water deficit) treatments. Although increasing irrigation intervals from I1 to I4 caused a small non significant reduction in RWC, but it reduced IWUE about 29% in I4 rather than I1. All characters included in this study (viz., PGC, IWUE, RWC and BM) were significantly correlated with YG. Non significant differences among I1, I2 and I3 treatments for YG and IWUE, suggest that I3 can be a more appropriate irrigation treatment for chickpea to obtain optimum yield and to save the water (up to 25%).
