| Title:EXPLORING THE CONNECTION BETWEEN MENTAL WELLNESS AND JOB PERFORMANCE OF MIDDLE LEADERS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS: A CASE OF SOUTH AFRICA |
| Abstract:Middle Leaders (MLs) in primary schools play a critical role in promoting educational success while simultaneously managing teaching and leadership responsibilities. This study explores the complex relationship between mental health, wellness, and job performance among MLs in the Gauteng North District, South Africa. Employing Seligman`s PERMA model of well-being, the study provides a multidimensional analysis of how positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishments influence MLs` professional efficacy. A qualitative case study design was used, with interviews conducted among six MLs. The findings highlight stressors affecting mental health and propose interventions to enhance workplace wellness and productivity. Recommendations target policy changes, systemic support, and leadership development. |
